Darkness is a virus written in TCL by Gigabyte. It is the first and only Tcl virus. Some antivirus products detect it as a Unix virus, as Tcl is very common on Unix-like systems.

When a file infected with Darkness is executed, it searches recursively for other Tcl files by checking for the string "#!/usr/bin/env wish". It checks to make sure the file has not been previously infected by searching for the string "#Darkness". When it finds a suitable file, it adds itself to the end of the file.

It will display the following lines of text:
